Glade offers fans the chance to create an arena or propose site art

and get grants totalling £3,000

Monday 8th March 2010

This year Glade Festival is offering three £1,000 grants and a handful of backstage tickets to people who would like to produce their own area, or propose site art installations at this year's event which is also seeking student reps.

Glade are looking for people with creative ideas who think differently and can bring off-the-wall, kooky ideas to Glade. The festival are looking for ideas that are interactive and will get people creatively involved in the festival.

Nick Ladd, Glade Festival Creative Director said, "We've been going to Burning Man for the last few years and the show there is 100% generated by the people that attend the festival. As a result, the creative diversity is mind boggling, so we are bringing a bit of that vibe to the UK to see what ideas people have got buried in the surrealist depths of their minds. We can't wait to see what people come up with!"

"We have always seen Glade as an interactive experience and this is taking that ethic to the next level. Anybody can now become part of the Glade's future creative direction and we invite people to let their imaginations run wild and come and join us in making Glade happen."

Students can also get their hands on a £2,000 arts bursary to be awarded to the best proposal for a site art installation that will be built at Glade 2010. "Glade is renowned for having some of the best art at any UK festival and this is a great opportunity for art students to merge their college art project with Glade and cop a nice bit of cash in the process." explained Nick Ladd.

Glade have also announced their new Glade Union program, a student ambassador scheme which sees Glade recruit students as marketing partners to help promote the event and sell tickets at their respective universities on a commission basis. Glade will be working with Bristol, Bath, Southampton, Portsmouth, Exeter, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Plymouth, Cardiff and Oxford Brookes Universities as part of the scheme, and all student applicants are invited to join the selection process by completing an application form. "Any students interested in events, promotion, festivals and marketing generally, should be up for it." said Nick Ladd. "There's a fat bonus scheme for the most successful reps and it's a great shout for anyone wanting to get some money together for their annual summer break."
